Introduction

During the final year (IV), you will embark on a major thesis, the Honours Project. Students are expected to engage intensively in this single, 7 month-long, independent research activity and to spend about 6-9 hours each week on the project throughout this period.

You are strongly advised to begin work on the project during your year abroad and to have much of the research substantially completed by October of your final year.

The following guidelines are largely similar to the general requirements of courses in the Faculty of Social Sciences. There are, however, certain additional requirements for the BSocSc (Hons) in European Studies Programme, due to the longer duration of the course and the year spent overseas.

You are advised to read through this handbook carefully before the onset of Year III and refer back to it, whenever appropriate, throughout years III and IV of your studies.
