How to Use the Study Paths

The Study Paths are arranged according to the textbook series Moment mal!, vols. 1-3. Simply click on the Einheit you are currently learning.

It offers you online exercises for Grammatik (review of the grammar) and Wortschatz (vocabulary review) as well as Textarbeit (reading/listening to/speaking about texts). The link Schreiben asks you to apply your Grammatik and Wortschatz in broader writing/reading exercises. You have the opportunity to send your texts to your teachers for feedback and correction. The section Deutsch im WWW leads you to other exercises or reading material on the WWW, which correspond to the level of skills you have reached so far.

You should not use the online exercises alone, but also the accompanying media (CD-ROMs, audio tapes, etc.) listed in each path. The code numbers indicate their location in the SALU.

The bar on the left-hand side of the screen provides access to Online Wörterbücher (German/English dictionaries) and Online-Grammatik (short grammars of German), which you may use during your self-study practice. It also helps you to type the required German Umlaute ä, ö, ü, ß (English Windows environment).

If you want to practice/learn more about the topic (Thema) of your textbook unit, check the corresponding Themen keyword entry in Weitere Selbstlernmaterialien. It will indicate further self-study materials for listening (Hören), viewing (Sehen), reading (Lesen) and Speaking (Sprechen). Follow the code numbers to locate the materials in the SALU.
You can also use this system to search for related Grammatik exercises.

There are further self-study materials in the Self-Access Learning Unit (SALU) and the European Documentation Centre (EDC). The SALU holdings are searchable onsite through the SLS Library Catalogue System. Please consult the SALU supervisor for details.

The Study Paths cover all you have to master up to the Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache. If you want to learn more about this proficiency exam, go to Goethe.de.
